Performance
The 2016 Ram 1500 has three engine choices. The lone diesel engine—which provides the truck’s peak fuel economy numbers of 21/29 mpg—is the EcoDiesel, a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that produces 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. The other two engine choices are gasoline-fueled: the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, and the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Each engine is hitched to a 6- or 8-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission. Depending on the powertrain configuration, the 2016 Ram 1500 can tow up to 10,840 lbs.
Interior
Industry writers particularly note the soft-touch interior materials and the overall sturdy construction of the 2016 Ram 1500. It is designed to seat up to six people, with the Quad Cab and Crew Cab being more spacious than the Regular Cab body style.
