 What's New for the 2017 Dodge Challenger?

The Dodge Challenger represents everything America loves about muscle cars. And as if it is not enough that it leaves its rivals in a cloud of white smoke, it is also surprisingly practical and features a bundle of creature comforts. The 2017 Dodge Challenger can be had in 10 flavors, main among them the SXT, the R/T, the R/T Shaker, the R/T Scat Pack, the SRT 392, and the SRT Hellcat. It is the only muscle coupe to seat five people, and its wide variety of wheels, colors, and styling packages ensure that your Challenger is unique to you. The 2017 Dodge Challenger combines thrills, style, and nimbleness to stay ahead of the Chevy Camaro and the Ford Mustang. For 2017, all models receive infotainment upgrades including Android Auto connectivity and Apple CarPlay. The latest Challenger's styling cues are not much different from the premier 1971 Challenger, although its primary look dates back to the last major revision in 2008. The 2017 SRTs receive new wheels and the R/Ts can be fitted with a function power bulge Shaker hood for a '60s look. Dodge has included a brand new T/A variant to the 2017 Challenger lineup. It is outfitted with Satin Black exterior graphics, 20-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, a cold-air induction system, Brembo brakes, “Air Catcher” headlights, and a cold-air hood system. The SXT, R/T, R/T Shaker, and the R/T Scat Pack trims come with the signature Houndstooth cloth upholstery and four new exterior colors - Yellow Jacket, Octane Red, Green Go, and Destroyer Grey - are now available.

The 2017 Dodge Challenger is a beast of a tire-burning coupe that offers a wide scope of performance, from the rumbling base Challenger SXT to the absolutely ferocious R/T and SRT models. You get a choice of four engines, all of which are paired standard to an eight-speed automatic transmission. A six-speed manual transmission is available to all but the base V-6 mill. The entry-level Challenger SXT continues with a 305 horsepower, 268 lb-ft 3.6-liter V-6 engine. This engine is estimated to return 19/30 mpg city/highway. Then follows the R/T's 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine that makes 372 hp and 400 lb-ft (automatic) and 375 hp and 410 lb-ft (manual). The R/T Scat Pack and the SRT 392 up the ante with a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 that is rated at an impressive 485 horses and 475 pound-feet torque. Topping the list, and driving the class-topping SRT Hellcat, is a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 with an insane 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. Challengers are customarily rear-wheel drive vehicles, but a new-for-2017 all-wheel drive platform makes them the only AWD muscle car. Options on the 2017 Challenger include a Harman/Kardon audio system, blind spot warning, a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, leather upholstery, keyless entry/start, heated/ventilated front seats, a customizable digital cluster display, and remote start. Available to the SXT is a Super Track Pak package that adds a 3.07 rear axle ratio, 20-inch alloy wheels, paddle shifters, and performance-tuned suspension and steering.
