The 2017 Ram 3500 is laying claim to most power, most capability, and highest towing rates in its heavy-duty segment. It leads its rivals with a remarkable 900 lb.-ft. of torque. It can tow up to 31,210 pounds, and it can carry as much as 7,390 pounds of payload. Offered in eight trims with two engine choices, the truck comes in four configurations: regular cab/long bed, crew cab/long bed, crew cab/short bed, and mega cab/short bed. Shoppers can choose from an impressive number of exterior colors, including two-tone options. The first engine choice is the 6.4-liter HEMI V-8. This engine is considered best-in-class among V-8's. It cranks out 410 horsepower and a load-moving 429 lb.-ft. of torque. To reduce fuel use, it has cylinder deactivation that can recognizes when only six cylinders are needed. A 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel cranks out 385 horsepower and 900 lb.-ft. This high output powertrain is paired with a six-speed Aisin heavy-duty automatic transmission to improve the truck's efficiency. For better stopping power, there's a diesel exhaust brake. The rear Hotchkiss leaf spring system gives every Ram 3500 the lift and flexibility it needs to handle big payloads. A supplemental air suspension system contributes to better handling. Ready to tow, every 3500 comes equipped with a trailer hitch and a four/seven pin connector. It even has tow hooks, should you need to pull a friend's car from a ditch.

The features list reads much like it would for a good SUV. From an overhead console to full-size floor console to in-seat storage, you'll find plenty of compartments. In the two-row cabs, a folding rear bench lets you create a useful cargo hold with a flat load floor. The cabins offer power seats with power-heat and power-ventilation.
